Abstract
Hypothyroidism is a deficiency of thyroid hormones. Symptoms include cold
intolerance, general weakness, and weight gain. Signs may include a typical appearance
and facial expression, hoarse slow speech, and dry skin. Diagnosis is carried out using
tests for thyroid function. Treatment includes the administration of thyroxine.
